Christmas Swim

It’s that time of year again as we get ready to bear all and head to Slade for our annual Christmas swim on January 2.
Our first Christmas swim was on December 25, 1982 and every year since we have kept up the tradition as its our main fundraising event of the year by doing the swim as close to Christmas Day as the tides allow.
Not only is it a fundraising event but also a great day out for members and friends who join us on the day.
This year due to tidal conditions the swim is taking place on January 2 at 11.30 a.m. sharp and as usual hot drinks will be available afterwards in the clubhouse.
Do come and support us even if only to see how brave we are.
Also take note there is still a chance to come and join us in the New Ross pool and have a go at our ‘ Try-a-dive’ night on Wednesday evening, January 4 at 7.45 p.m. This could be your last chance to try it out. You should be over 18 years of age and of course be able to swim.
Try A Dive / Pool Training

Have you ever wondered about trying Scuba diving? Well, now you can. The Hook Sub Aqua Club is running no obligation try-a-dive sessions. Come along and have a go at scuba diving in a pool with a fully qualified instructor. All welcome, All equipment is provided.
We are now accecpting membership applications from absolute beginners and experienced divers!

HookSAC take on Portroe Dive Center

After meeting at a ridiculous hour (8.30am) on a sunday morning, two van loads of gear and divers made the trip to Portoe Dive Center. In total 10 divers made the journey with 4 newbie’s among the veterens! On arrival (after a breakie pit stop) we expected to be the only divers there but were greated with a full carpark and a winter time buzz about the place. The first dive went well enjoyed by all one or two members braved the cold waters in wetsuits…..but the tea and refreshemnts went down exteremly well, although Denny did manage to turn the canteen into a turkish sauna trying to dry off the undersuit

Dive Officer of the Day (DoD’s)

Hi All,
As the new dive season is apon us we will post a list of DoD’s on the site so you can check when your on. The aim of this to help Club Divers (**) to gain experience in organising dives and selecting dive buddies according to their experience. All diver ** DoD’s will be paired with a Mon * or Mon ** to help with the days activities.
